Community of Practice: Beyond Foundations - Strengthening Specialist Classroom Practice in any classroom Aspect is hosting the next Community of Practice (CoP) event on Thursday, 24 September 2026. This is an in-person event bringing people together across sectors to learn with and from one another, with a shared goal of strengthening inclusive education for Autistic learners. This session will explore the theme - Beyond Foundations: Strengthening Specialist Classroom Practice, focusing on Tier 2 (targeted group support) and Tier 3 (individualised support). Join us to connect with peers, hear different perspectives and gain practical strategies you can apply to your own context. About the event: • Date: Thursday, 24th September 2026 • Time: 8:45am - 3:30 pm • Location: NSW Parliament House, Macquarie St, Sydney • Theme: Beyond Foundations - Strengthening Specialist Classroom Practice Who should attend • School principals and leadership teams • Classroom teachers and support staff • Education support staff and coordinators • Policy makers and system leaders • Researchers and academics • People with lived experience of autism and neurodiversity • Parliamentary stakeholders Event Focus A tiered support model recognises that while all students benefit from strong classroom teaching, some may need targeted or intensive supports to thrive Building on high-quality universal Tier 1 teaching, this Community of Practice explores practical, evidence-informed Tier 2 and Tier 3 approaches that mainstream and specialist educators can use to better support Autistic students. Through practical examples from schools, research and practitioners, we'll examine how targeted interventions, progress monitoring and responsive teaching can improve participation, learning and outcomes. Aspect Community of Practice is designed around shared learning, collaboration inquiry and discussion rather than traditional conference presentations.
