Full description from organizerShow less
A panel discussion of writers about objects and memories. Join Vithyaa Thavapalan in conversation with authors Bee Lim, Jacquie Pham and Natasha Rai as they explore the objects, rituals and personal histories that shape memory, family and belonging. Together, they will reflect on how stories are carried across cultures and generations, and how home is preserved, transformed and reimagined. This event was curated by the Chau Chak Wing Museum and yinfluence. All ticket proceeds will be donated to Room to Read Australia in support of literacy and girls’ education. About our Panellists Jacquie Pham is a Vietnamese-Australian writer of adult fiction. She currently lives in Sydney with two very goofy dogs. Don’t tell them, but Jacquie also loves cats. Those Opulent Days, her debut novel, was published in 2024. Natasha Rai is a writer, somatic counsellor, writing mentor and workshop facilitator. She is also the co-host of the Book Deal podcast, exploring writers' publication journeys. Her debut novel, An Onslaught of Light, published by Pantera Press, was longlisted for the 2017 Richell Prize, 2018 KYD Unpublished Manuscript award, and highly commended for the 2022 Ultimo Press/Westwords Prize. Her second novel will be published in 2027. Natasha’s short nonfiction and fiction appear in various journals and publications, including Mascara Literary Review and Overland. She is also on the external advisory board for Newcastle University’s Bachelor of Arts program. Dr. Bee Teng Lim is a clinical psychologist whose work explores the subtle wounds of trauma: the fracture of identity, the inheritance of silence, and the ways we adapt to survive. Born in Malaysia, trained in New Zealand, and now based in Australia, she brings clinical rigor and depth of care to those navigating the lasting impacts of trauma and displacement. Fluent in Mandarin and several Asian dialects, she is known for her commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed care. She is the co-founder of Mind Health Collective, a Sydney-based psychology practice that serves clients internationally, and co-founder of BeTuned, a game-based therapeutic and performance platform. Presented with support of Brown Boss Babes, Room to Read and yinfluence editorial.
