October Camp 2026

Dear Parents, The camp will be held from Friday 2nd to Monday 5th October. The camp is open to Rhys & his mates to enjoy exclusive use of an entire camp on the river. As per previous camps, they'll get to plan their own food and activities! Date Time Location Activity Start: Friday 2 Oct 2026 2.00 pm Windeyer Camp Activity Finish: Sunday 5 Oct 2026 3.00 pm Windeyer Camp All prices are at cost: It covers 3 nights camping, facilities hire, includes all meals and activities. Cost per person (incl. all activities, meals etc): $110.00 Closing date to let us know you are coming & payment is 27th September 2026. Event overview: They boys will have freedom to enjoy the property, explore surrounding terrain and waterways over 3 nights. They will be in charge of their own fun and adventures! This pre-war camp has enormous charm and will give them a taste of how things used to be done. High level plan: • Boys will be in charge of the budget by ordering food online from Woolies for the trip themselves - delivered to the Scout Hall • Meet at 2nd Gordon Scout Hall on Friday 2nd Oct morning to pack the trailer • Head to Camp by train to Berowra station with day bag and lunch packed • Walk to Camp from Berowra (1.5hrs - 6.5km downhill) - River crossing required - Bring swimmers! ** • Trailer and food to arrive in the evening - help unload • Boys will run the camp - including running the camp hot water system! • Monday: 1 parent car required for pickup ** Crossing point: At low tide the river is knee deep, at high tide using sand banks it is waist deep, otherwise neck deep. Boys will need a map! Boys should bring: ^ • Suitable outdoor clothing (4 days) - see below • Comfortable walking shoes / sneakers (must be enclosed) • Suitable outdoor clothing - see below • Swimmers & towel • Old shoes that can get wet or swimming shoes • Book to read • Some camping gear - see below ^ Because they have the camp to themselves (besides the camp warden), there enough facilities, hence not much gear is required. The Camp has: • Fully equipped kitchen (stove, pots, pans, utensils) • Large fridge • Toilets • Open air showers (as nature intended) CLOTHING / MISC • 3x change of clothes - including fleece / jacket, waterproof jacket. Preferably non-cotton clothing • Sun hat • Sunscreen • Mosquito repellent • Toiletries • Plastic bag for any wet items CAMPING GEAR required by ALL: • Mess kit - Plate, Bowl & Mug + Tea Towel + Cutlery (ideally a camping set) • Head torch • Sleeping bag • Sleeping mat - Thermarest, foam mattress or even a yoga mat (NOT a blow-up mattress) • Small backpack and water bottle • Blankets (optional) • There are plenty of tables and chairs on site (it is easy to make your own chairs and tables from what nature has made available) • Sleeping options: • Tents (BYO) • In door hall on mats • Bunk beds available Contact details: (Please contact Emergency Contact) Activity Coordinator: Javier Christie: [email protected] 0457 540 343
