Some patients don't get better with first-line treatment, and knowing what to do next is often the hardest part of mental health care in general practice. This CPD event helps GPs recognise when standard approaches to depression and trauma aren't working, and what to do about it. You'll learn to identify treatment-resistant depression and structure your assessment before escalating care, understand repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as an option for patients who haven't responded to medication, and confidently distinguish PTSD from Complex PTSD to guide referral and treatment. Grounded in current Australian data and guidelines, and featuring clinicians actively delivering these treatments, this series builds the practical confidence and clinical judgement GPs need to support patients whose presentations don't follow the textbook, wherever they practise.
