Lunch & Learn: What is Human-Centred Design?

Join Emera ideaHUB for a lunch and learn key principles of human-centred design (HCD) . Join designer, researcher, and educator Glen Hougan for an informative lunch-and-learn introducing the core principles of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and how you can apply its principles within your organization. Drawing from his extensive work in service, healthcare, user experience, and design for aging populations, Glen will walk participants through how using a Human-Centered Design lens can help you frame complex challenges, identify opportunities, and build products and services that truly fit the people using them. As an industrial, product, and service designer, his work focuses on user experience, design thinking, and human-centered innovation in healthcare and design for aging populations. A former Mayo Clinic Innovation Fellow and Sun Life Financial Chair in Design in Health and Aging, Glen’s research centers on designing for human dignity, combating ageism, and understanding real-world user behaviors. His empathetic, human-centered approach has earned broad international recognition, with features in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and PBS.
