Green Drinks: Unwrap Less Waste

Unwrap new ideas for a greener future! Enjoy inspiring conversations, creative activities, a documentary sneak peek, and free pizza! Did you know Canadians throw away an estimated 540,000 tonnes of gift wrapping and shopping bags every year? That's a whole lot of packaging for things we only unwrap once! Join CAFES for Green Drinks: Unwrap Less Waste as we rethink how we give, consume, and create waste. We'll hear from a Ludmila Popova, tailor, artisan, educator, and the founder of The Green Needle. Ludmila will share The Green Needle story, ideas on sustainable practices and creative reuse, and share practical ideas for making more thoughtful choices as we head into the season of giving. We'll also get a sneak peek of Our Grid, Our Future, a documentary exploring our energy future and the role we can play in shaping a more sustainable world. Get a first look at the film and secure your tickets for the full screening coming this December! Curious about sustainable gift wrapping? You'll have a chance to explore furoshiki, the Japanese art of fabric gift wrapping, through an optional hands-on activity facilitated by Painted Key Art Therapy. All supplies will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own fabric to repurpose! Green Drinks is all about connecting with others, exchanging ideas, and finding inspiration for positive change - we hope to see you there! Green Drinks Ottawa is presented by CAFES (Community Action for Environmental Sustainability). Celebrate wins, inspire action, and foster collaboration.
