OAW 2026 - The Cliff Energy Centre Building Tour

Designed by bbb architects Ottawa Inc. with WSP Engineering, the Cliff Energy Centre is part of Canada's largest centralized district energy system, replacing aging heating and cooling infrastructure while providing sustainable energy to more than 80 federal buildings across Ottawa and Gatineau. The tour begins at 6 p.m. on the steps of the Supreme Court of Canada, where participants will be introduced to the vision behind the project before exploring the upper plateau gardens and learning about the 14 km district energy network. From there, the group will enter The Cliff, the Visitor Education Centre, to experience Moment Factory's interactive installation, Undercurrents, and the Vista viewing gallery overlooking the plant's massive boilers. The tour continues down the Cliff Climb to the river pathway, with stops at scenic viewing platforms and a closer look at the building's distinctive Triodetic stainless steel mesh façade. The walking tour concludes with networking, light refreshments, and conversation at Mill Street Brew Pub.
