Risograph Animation: Artist Talk (Hybrid) + Printing// Nuit Blanche

DESCRIPTION For Nuit Blanche Ottawa 2026, Possible Worlds is pleased to welcome Risograph printer and animator Alex Barsky from Zine Hug (Seattle, USA). Alex will give a talk on her practice as an animator, co-founding Zine Hug as a micropress, and her work as an educator. Visitors will then be invited to experiment with the Risograph printer by pushing its capabilities into the realm of animation. Alex will show participants how to create analog animations using physical materials and the printer's scan bed. All materials will be provided. For all creative levels. Possible Worlds will be open at 6PM before the artist talk until 12 AM for those who want to visit the studio and shop. ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Alex Barsky is an artist living in Seattle, WA. Her award-winning animated short films The Alligator and Train Man are about frustrated and weary people who have run out of luck. They have screened around the world at festivals like SXSW, Animex, and Animation Block Party. She is the co-founder of Zine Hug, a micropress that publishes comics and animation using a risograph printer. Alex is currently an associate professor at Seattle University and the director of their animation program.
