About the Presentation: From Chaos to Clarity: Streamlining Project Controls Communication in High-Stakes Projects Consistent and effective communication is a key contributor to the success of any project. Studies revealed that the most crucial success factor in project management is effective communication to all stakeholders. Ineffective communications have a significant risk to the outcome of the project objectives. Effective communication can make the difference between success and failure no matter how good the planning, measuring, and assessments are. Project controls professionals are key translators and communicators through the project lifecycle and engage in various areas of project management, including cost, schedule, risk, and quality management. The focus of this paper is to recommend effective ways to tackle the chaos in communication that commonly happens on mega projects. It identifies practical approaches of communication on a mega project with different stakeholder groups such as owners, vendors, internal teams, and regulators, as well as various levels of management from middle managers to executives. About the Presenters: Sudhakar Pulagam, P.Eng, CCP, EVP VP, Nuclear, Infrastructure & Capital Projects, Accenture 30+ years of experience delivering complex capital projects across the nuclear, manufacturing, mining, and transmission & distribution sectors. Expertise in design engineering, project management, and project controls, with deep experience supporting owner-side organizations in capital planning, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring. Proven track record in front-end planning for SMR and new-build nuclear projects, as well as project management maturity assessments to enhance project delivery performance. Tracy Leung, P.Eng VP, Environment Health & Safety, OPG 20+ years of experience in the nuclear utility industry, specializing in project management and project controls for large-scale capital projects. Led project controls for the Pickering Refurbishment Feasibility Analysis and served as Cost Manager for the $12.8B Darlington Refurbishment Project, which was delivered under budget and ahead of schedule. Recognized for industry leadership as a PMI PMO of the Year Finalist (2022), Chair of the AACE Women in Project Controls Committee (2022-2024), and Chair of the Durham College Project Management Program Advisory Board (2023-2025). How to get to the Event? From Union Station via the PATH • From Union Station, enter the PATH and follow the signs towards RBC Plaza. • Continue through the PATH towards RBC Plaza. Lumi is located in the North Tower. • Continue following the PATH towards RBC Plaza. You’ll pass two sets of escalators along the way — do not take these, as they lead to the South Tower. Continue past both sets of escalators and keep walking until you pass Flight Centre on your right. • Take the escalators immediately after Flight Centre up to the North Tower. • At the top of the escalators, look for the elevator bank labelled 17+. • Take these elevators to Level 16. Although the elevator bank is labelled 17+, these elevators do go directly to the 16th floor. • Lumi is Unit 1600, located directly across from the elevator bank. From Street Level – Coming from Union Station • Exit Union Station and head north on Bay Street. • Turn left onto Wellington Street. • Use the entrance on Wellington Street to enter RBC Plaza. This entrance provides access to the North Tower, where Lumi is located. • Important: The entrances on Bay Street and Front Street lead to the South Tower, so please use the Wellington Street entrance. • Once inside, take the elevator bank labelled 17+. • Despite the 17+ label, these elevators go directly to Level 16. • Exit on Level 16. Lumi is Unit 1600, located directly across from the elevator bank. Parking There is one parking garage entrance and exit located along Wellington Street directly west of Bay Street. The parking garage is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Parking services are managed by REEF, an independent parking management company. For more information regarding the parking garage, to make special arrangements for prepaid guest and/or staff parking, or for more information, please call the Parking Manager at 416-865-0106 or visit the Parking Office, located on the P1 level in the South Tower. The P1 Level is designated for customers with reserved stalls, while P2 and P3 serve to accommodate all others.
