Food has always been a way for Annie to connect the places she calls home. With grandparents born in India who later made their lives in East Africa, Annie grew up surrounded by a beautiful blend of Indian and East African flavours, spices and cooking traditions. In this hands-on class, we’ll explore those connections through a comforting East African-inspired meal while learning about the ingredients and techniques that make these dishes so special. We’ll begin with samosas or crispy cassava fries and a refreshing mango and passion fruit juice before heading into the kitchen. Together, we’ll prepare: Pigeon Pea Pilaff Fragrant rice cooked with pigeon peas and creamy coconut milk. Coconut Curried Meatballs Tender, warmly spiced meatballs simmered in a luscious coconut curry, bringing together the comforting flavours of East Africa and the Indian Ocean. Coconut Chutney A fresh and creamy chutney that adds the perfect finishing touch to the meal. After cooking, we’ll gather around the table to enjoy everything we’ve prepared together.
