Registration includes: Workshop + practice mat What is Baybayin? Baybayin is the ancient script used by Filipinos for centuries before Spanish colonization. Learning this beautiful and expressive script is more than just memorizing characters - it's a journey of cultural rediscovery. The Workshop: The workshop includes guided facilitation on our ancient script, practicing baybayin together, and a take home baybayin piece for you to take home. Expect cozy, reflective, and joyful vibes with a likeminded community of Filipinos. In this workshop (2 hours), you will: • Gain an understanding of the history and significance of Baybayin. • Learn the fundamentals of writing baybayin characters, including consonants, vowels, and markings (modern baybayin 17+) • Practice writing syllables and words. • Take home a reusable dry erase practice mat and make a baybayin piece This workshop is for you if: • You want a soft and cozy space to ground, reflect, and surround yourself with a loving community • You're interested in learning about pre-colonial Philippine history and culture. • You want to connect with your Filipino roots in a meaningful way. • You're looking to express your creativity through a new medium • No prior experience is necessary.
