Tree Canada's National Tree Day Planting Event in Winnipeg

Tree Canada and the City of Winnipeg are excited to plant trees in honour of National Tree Day. Come celebrate with us! Tree Canada, in collaboration with the City of Winnipeg, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us to plant 80 trees and shrubs in Woodsworth Park. Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm! How you'll be making an impact This project will transform an undermaintained area of Woodsworth Park into a beautiful space for the community to enjoy. Currently, the northern section collects significant amounts of wind-blown garbage and requires attention. Planting a diverse selection of native species will improve the area’s beauty, ecological value, and habitat while creating a more inviting space for walking and connecting with nature. The project will also provide environmental benefits including shade, particulate matter interception and carbon sequestration. Free Food: Volunteers can grab a snack, courtesy of Vachon. What to wear and bring: Volunteers should wear and bring the following: • Water bottle • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots • Long pants • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing • Sunscreen • Bug spray • Hat • Hand sanitizer This rain or shine event will take place unless the forecast calls for thunderstorms or very heavy rainfall. We look forward to planting trees with you! Meeting Point: Volunteers will meet here. Parking: Volunteers can park along Selkirk Avenue or in the park’s public parking area, indicated on the map. Terrain: Easy, flat Booking Information: This is a community event. Businesses and corporations must contact us to reserve tickets for their teams.
