Los Angeles-based artist and author Kimberly Brooks is flying to Berlin specially to lead an intimate weekend for artists who want to paint in oils without turpentine. Drawing on her book The New Oil Painting, Kimberly will share her solvent-free methods through demonstrations, practical painting and individual guidance. Whether you are new to oils or already have a painting practice, you will have room to experiment and develop your work in a group of no more than eight. This is also a professional-practice and networking event. Kimberly is extremely well connected in the international art world. The weekend offers a rare chance for Berlin artists to talk with her about painting and artistic careers, meet other artists and form lasting connections. The programme opens with a private dinner on Friday evening, including a preview of Kimberly’s paintings and time to meet her and the other participants. Programme Friday 23 October, 19:30 — Private welcome dinner near Burnt Sienna; the location will be shared with booked participants. Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, 10:00–16:00 — Studio workshop at Burnt Sienna Berlin, Kamminerstraße 9, 10589 Berlin. Tuesday 3 November and Tuesday 1 December, 18:00–19:00 Berlin time — Online follow-up sessions with Kimberly. Fee: €750, including materials, dinner, both studio days and both online sessions. Two artist solidarity places are available at €650; please enquire directly. Only eight places are available, and four are booked. Follow the event website link to book your place.
