About this event

A session explores how better ESG data leads to smarter financial decisions.

Full description from organizer

How can better ESG data lead to smarter financial decisions? Join us for an afternoon of research insights, industry perspectives and innovative technologies, bringing together e-nettet, researchers and spinouts from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and the Nordic Fintech Center. We will explore how ESG reporting can become more consistent and actionable, how AI can help identify reporting gaps, and how emerging technologies can generate valuable sustainability data to support risk assessment and financial decision-making. Whether you work with ESG, finance, technology or research, this event offers fresh perspectives and opportunities to connect with experts and potential collaboration partners. Turning ESG Data into Actionable Insights ESG and sustainability data are increasingly shaping financial decisions, from investment strategies and credit assessments to risk management and long-term business planning. But how can financial institutions turn fragmented sustainability information into reliable, comparable and decision-ready data? As ESG information becomes more closely integrated into financial models and business processes, data quality, standardization and transparency become essential. Reliable information can help organizations better understand environmental and financial risks, identify opportunities and make more informed decisions. Emerging technologies, from environmental sensors and emissions monitoring to AI-driven energy simulation, can also provide new sources of sustainability data and insights. Connecting these technologies with ESG reporting frameworks and financial decision-making creates opportunities for innovation and collaboration across sectors. How can we improve ESG data quality, benchmark sustainability risks and translate research and emerging technologies into practical solutions for the financial sector? Through research-based insights, real-world experiences and innovative technologies, this Nordic Fintech Insight event will explore these questions and create opportunities for collaboration between academia, startups and industry. You will meet: • ESG-manager from e-nettet (TBC) discussing the strategic perspectives and why the financial sector should collaborate on common standards and trustworthy data. e-ettet will also share experiences from cross-sector collaborations on agricultural data for reporting, risk management, and advisory services. • Florentina Paraschiv, Professor of Finance, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), exploring how AI and optimization techniques can identify relevant ESG reporting indicators across industries, uncover reporting gaps and improve our understanding of how differences in ESG ratings influence portfolio decisions. Drawing on her research and experience with biodiversity reporting, Florentina will also discuss the potential of text analysis for identifying sustainability data gaps related to biodiversity, social sustainability and natural resources. • DTU research spinout (TBA) showcasing innovative technologies in environmental monitoring, emissions measurement, energy-system optimization or AI-driven simulation, and exploring how these solutions can support sustainability assessment, climate-related risk analysis and more informed investment decisions. • Marjan Mansourvar and Sine Thomsen, Nordic Fintech Center, your event hosts, helping connect researchers, startups and financial-sector organizations to explore new opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
