CWGC Tours 2026 - Halton (St Michael) Churchyard

Join us for a free tour of Halton (St Michael) Churchyard Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Halton (St Michael) Churchyard, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides. Our tours are free to the public, but if you would like to support us then please consider donating to our charity The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF). https://foundation.cwgc.org/donate/ MEETING POINT is inside the main gate for the churchyard on the corner of Church View and Halton Village. During this tour we will talk about the CWGC and look at the stories of some of the service personnel buried in the churchyard. Those men and women include Australian, Canadian, Dutch, French and Polish as well as British personnel. The youngest include 17 year old WAAF ACW2 Ellen Mabel Lambert who died in the service of her country. The oldest, Chief Marshal Sir Charles Stuart Burnett KCB, CBE, DSO who was 62. His service had started with the Army in the Boer War then stretched through the First World War, then the inter-war years into the Second World War. The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 400 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground. There is limited parking available on the main (Halton Village) road and nearby Brookside. There are no on-site facilities and toilets. Please bring water if required. Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear. Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery. Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
