My Independence: Classroom Practice That Builds Life Skills

The session examines effective approaches to developing life skills, confidence, problem-solving, self-care, community participation and functional communication across all pathways. Through discussion, case studies and practical activities, staff will reflect on current practice, consider how to reduce prompt dependency and identify opportunities to increase pupil participation and ownership of learning. Participants will leave with clear, actionable strategies for promoting independence consistently across their classroom and wider school environment. This module has been accredited by the NCFE and can be considered when working towards the NCFE Award. Participants are required to complete five modules, including the mandatory module.
