Woodland Explorers (for home-educators) December

Woodland Explorers: Nature, discovery and adventure for home-education! Join us for Woodland Explorers, a monthly outdoor learning group for home-educated children aged 6-14 who are curious about the natural world and ready to get stuck into some woodland adventures! Set in the beautiful surroundings of Folly Farm, a nature reserve managed by Avon Wildlife Trust, our sessions offer children the opportunity to learn, explore and develop practical skills in nature, all through hands-on experiences and child-led activities. 🍃 What to expect 🔥 Fire-lighting and woodland survival skills 🪵 Using tools safely and developing practical skills 🎨 Woodland crafts and natural creativity 🦉 Wildlife identification and owl pellet dissection 🌳 Shelter building and outdoor challenges 🧭 Navigation and exploration 🥘 Outdoor cooking and campfire adventures 🐾 Nature trails and discovering the world around us Each session will have a different nature-based theme, with plenty of opportunities for children to follow their interests, ask questions, experiment, solve problems and learn through doing. We encourage curiosity, creativity and confidence, giving children the freedom to explore their own ideas and discover where their learning takes them. Whether they're fascinated by nature, keen to learn outdoor skills, love making things or simply want the freedom to explore and learn alongside other home-educated children whilst outdoors, there's something for everyone! There’s always something to discover, especially as the seasons change. Learning led by curiosity Our sessions are all about learning with nature, rather than just learning about it. Children will be encouraged to take the lead, make discoveries, work together and develop a deeper connection with the natural world. From practical woodland skills to spotting wildlife and investigating nature's mysteries, every session offers new opportunities to learn in a hands-on, meaningful way.
