About this event
An open circle for arts psychotherapists, counsellors, psychotherapists interested in the power of embodiment to develop consciousness. In the discipline of authentic movement our experience of one another develops within deep embodied empathy. The weekend will explore an integrative approach drawing on and weaving together the principles of humanistic person-centred and a psychodynamic orientation to form an integrative model. The AM experience resonates in our bodies in the present moment and beyond. Embodied empathy is crucial for transformational learning enhancing our being in the ‘here-and-now’ Participants will learn to engage with this direct experience of self, beyond words and concepts through their own and others authentic bodily movement and verbal sharing within a safe, structured setting in rural England. This weekend totals 18 hours towards CPD, fee £325.00 per person (discounts to ADMP UK/UKCP members) for weekend, low cost accommodation paid separately. The weekend includes: • • An exploration of body awareness, body-mind-spirit connections and kinetic meditation where mindfulness is crucial to practice. • Movement, in gesture and posture, sometimes with closed eyes will be core to the programme. • Exercises Connecting to Nature. • An exploration of the roles of witness and mover in dyads, triads and groups to include the four phases of processing. The programme will honour a non-judgemental ethos and provide both witnessing and movement experiences, verbal and symbolic reflective processes, as well as small teaching seminars. Be inspired in a setting with wildlife up close, beautiful landscapes, places to explore, good food and friendly faces. Trainer: Professor Helen Payne, Reg ADMP/UKCP. I was first introduced to AM by the founder of what was then called ‘movement-in-depth’ with Mary Starks Whitehouse in 1979. I then trained with Dr Janet Adler in The Discipline of Authentic Movement/AM (Adler, 2002) in the first senior DMTs international intensive circles beginning in 1992 which I organised. To date I have offered training across the globe and continue to employ the discipline in my private practice. Contact: [email protected] for application and booking forms.
