Full description from organizer

Join us to learn more about human rights and explore what they mean for us in our daily lives. This creative and engaging session from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) is designed to encourage people to think about how we can relate human rights to our own everyday experiences. We’ll hear from two speakers who will help set the scene and highlight how understanding our rights helps us to identify if they are not being met and how we can claim and defend them. The session will explore the right to health and how a Human Rights Bill could be transformative. Together we’ll spend the second part of the session working to identify and map out the human rights we interact with daily using different personas offering different types of perspectives and helping us to understand how rights intersect. Finally, we will consider the practical actions that people can take to help them understand their rights. This event is part of Scotland’s Human Rights Festival 2026 (9–13 December). The festival brings together events across Scotland under a shared banner to make human rights more visible, accessible and relevant in everyday life. It aims to move human rights beyond legal and policy spaces and into stages, streets, screens, and conversations across the country.
