At Gorst Studios, DART will create a large painting on black canvas using bleach while Alex Serer plays an indie house DJ set. As the bleach works into the fabric, the image will gradually emerge, shaped by the music and the energy of the dance floor. The painting and the DJ set will unfold side by side, with everyone sharing the same space throughout the performance. We’re putting this night together to share what we do and make something together. Neither of us is taking a fee, all ticket money will go towards making the night happen, covering our filmmaker, sound, equipment and the bar. Coming along helps us bring the whole thing to life. ALEX SERER Trained professionally in music theory and saxophone, Alex fell for house and techno in London's clubs and set out to master the craft of DJing. Moved by the underground club culture from London to Berlin, his sets travel from groovy, energetic tech house into darker, hypnotic techno. Expect storytelling music selection and seamless transitions, with no gimmicks and no commercial hits. DART DART creates one-of-a-kind clothing, using bleach to bring his own designs to life. Some pieces are made around an idea or personal meaning that matters to the person who’ll wear them, so they feel like more than just something off the rack. His designs tend to be dark and sketchy. The bleach makes the process unpredictable: the image only really comes together as the fabric changes, and no two pieces turn out quite the same. The aim is to make pieces people can recognise themselves in, something that feels like their own. The winner will work directly with DART to create a one-of-a-kind custom piece. You’ll share your ideas and shape the design together, before DART brings it to life by hand using bleach.
