Full description from organizer

We do not instruct; instead, we invite participants to share. We believe that art connects people, and sharings improve creativity! Gothic, Grotesque & Uncanny: Lifedrawing the Beautiful, the Strange & the Unsettling Why are we fascinated by things that disturb us? Get into the Halloween spirit with this life drawing workshop that explores the strange space between beauty and discomfort. Inspired by gothic art, the grotesque, and the uncanny, we'll use life drawing to investigate unusual forms, exaggerated features, dramatic shadows, and unexpected ways of seeing the figure. Whether you haven't picked up a pencil in years or draw regularly, this is a space to experiment, play, and embrace the wonderfully weird. Through guided prompts and creative exercises, we'll explore how artists use distortion, atmosphere, emotion, and imagination to create images that are both captivating and slightly uncanny. No experience needed. Come with an open mind (and a taste for the strange) Art Ref for this session: https://pin.it/82DxhhCp3 Life Drawing Ref: https://uk.pinterest.com/earlymasterworkslifeDrawing/life-drawing/ Past Gathering Photos: https://uk.pinterest.com/earlymasterworkslifeDrawing/life-drawing-london-earlymasterworkscom/ Cover Image Credit: Caroline (Canvas) Model: Nia is an addicted fitness person who can do complicated poses. With Nia, you can expect a body with muscles definition all over and almost no body fat. Nia is also flexible and dynamic with postures — flowy, cat-like, feral, intense, warrior, diverse and erotic — this will surely be a very exciting and fun session! I love life drawing as a host, an artist, and occasionally as a model. Over the past ten years, I've explored all kinds of approaches to drawing the human figure, from traditional observation to experimental mark-making, and I'll be sharing some of the techniques, prompts, and tricks I've picked up along the way. As an artist, I work with pencil, oils, gouache, and pretty much anything else I can get onto a wall. I'm particularly interested in creative and playful approaches to life drawing that encourage people to look differently, take risks, and surprise themselves. For this workshop, we'll be diving into the beautiful, the bizarre, and the unsettling together. Come prepared to embrace the strange.
