Long before we could tell each other anything, we could show each other. Wedding receptions, mosh pits, the Royal Opera House, kitchens at two in the morning. It is still the language we all share, and most of us claim not to be fluent until the beat takes over. It is also one of the fastest ways we connect. Conversation is built for two people at a time, but a beat is for everyone. However, these venues are increasingly under threat.
