BMC Hill Walking: Social Walk, Corbar Hill & Combs Head, Peak District

This social walk is part of the High Peak Walking Festival: https://visitpeakdistrict.com/events/category/high-peak-walking-festival Buxton: Two Ethels & a Trig Point Join BMC Walk Leader Austin Knott for a moderate, occasionally challenging 10-mile (16km) circular walk from Buxton, taking in two Ethels – Corbar Hill and Combs Head – plus the Corbar Hill trig point. The route combines woodland, open moorland and spectacular Peak District views, with around 1,600ft (500m) of ascent. Expect to be walking for approximately 5.5–6 hours, depending on conditions and group pace. Please note: no dogs on this walk. Free street parking nearby Please check out the BMC Liftshare service Facilities: Toilets are available at the start Public Transport: Trains and buses are available to and from Buxton Railway Station What to Bring We’ll cover a range of terrains, so please ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate gear Footwear: Sturdy, water-resistant hiking boots or shoes with good grip suitable for uneven and wet ground Clothing: Dress in layers, including a warm layer and waterproofs. As conditions can vary; bring a hat and gloves Food and Drink: Bring enough food and water for a full day’s walk; there will be no places to purchase refreshments en route. Don’t forget treats for the leader and your walking companions Other Essentials: Although we plan to finish within daylight hours, carrying a small torch or head torch is advisable for emergencies. A fully charged mobile phone is reccommended Who Can Attend Anyone, under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
