Full description from organizer

A friendly space to connect, share experiences and discover ways to live well with a long-term condition. Everyone welcome! About Cuppa & Chat Cuppa & Chat is a friendly, informal space for people living with long-term conditions, as well as their friends, family and carers. The sessions are organised and run by Jo Brooks from Shropshire Neuro Physio (Neuro Physio, Health Coach & PD Warrior Licensee) and Bright Gurupira, Managing Director of Right at Home Telford, a private homecare provider supporting people across Telford & Wrekin. The idea for the sessions was born after we realised that we were hearing similar challenges coming up for our clients time and again, regardless of the nature of their condition, disease or disability. We also noticed that these challenges rarely had a dedicated space where they could be voiced and shared. Each month, we’ll explore a different theme, share experiences, learn from one another and discover practical ideas to help us live well with a long-term condition. There’s no pressure to speak or share—just come along for a cuppa, a chat and some friendly company. Our aim is to create a welcoming space where people feel heard, supported and able to connect with others who may understand some of the challenges of living with a long-term condition. Everyone is welcome, whether you live with a long-term condition yourself, support someone else or simply want to find out more. The theme this month is: Letting People Help Without Losing Your Independence Accepting help can sometimes feel complicated. You might want support but worry about losing your independence, feel uncomfortable asking for help or find that other people offer support you don’t actually want or need. This month, we’ll explore what independence means to you, how you can accept helpful support while maintaining choice and control, and how to communicate the kind of help you would find most useful.
