Beginner's food preserving workshop! Learn to pickle, ferment + can veg

Learn how to make chutney, pickles and kimchi using fresh market-garden veg in a hands-on workshop at Grassroots Garden CIC, Redruth. A hands-on preserving workshop for the local community—beginners and all others are welcome. And yes - you'll take home some preserves along with your new skills! Make and learn together Join us in the polytunnel at Grassroots Garden CIC - Redruth's Community Supported Agriculture project - to preserve vegetables from the market garden. We’ll make chutney and kimchi together, and explain other easy ways to preserve veg, including fermenting in general, pickling with vinegar and why jams and chutneys work, so you can get started at home and preserve food to last through the winter and beyond. The chutney and kimchi will be canned in jars for you to take home and you'll see just how easy it is to preserve summer fruit and veg for yourself and your family and friends. This in-person workshop is part of a local food resilience pilot programme in collaboration with Food For All Cornwall CIC to increase local food resilience skills through education and community participation. Tickets are priced to be accessible to all. Email us if price is a barrier as we have some free places.
