Dip for Duchy: Learn to Cold Water Dip Safely – Beginner Sessions

A Fundraising Event - raising funds for Duchy Collective CIC (a not for profit organisation supporting mental & physical wellbeing) Always been curious about cold water dipping, but not quite confident enough to try it on your own? This friendly, informative group session is designed especially for complete beginners who would love to experience cold water dipping but want to know how to do it safely and confidently. Why September & October? - the sea in warmest in September and so you get to learn the techniques and practice as the water cools over the following weeks. Once you know the process of safe entry youll be dipping well after the programme finishes. You’ll be guided by Marie from Athena Success Ltd, a qualified STA Open Water Swim Coach, trained in Open Water Safety, Cold Water Immersion and Breathwork – so you’ll be in safe and experienced hands. What will you learn? During the session, Marie will help you: • Understand how to enter and exit cold water safely • Learn how your body responds to cold water • Discover some of the myths and facts surrounding cold water dipping • Explore the potential physical and mental wellbeing benefits • Learn how to use your breathing to help you stay calm and in control • Understand your own limits and why more isn't always better when it comes to cold water • Experience a supported cold water dip alongside others There's no "horse stance" , no ice tanks, no matcho competitions to stay in the longest or throwing yourself off the harbour wall (and you'll learn why for many this is in fact dangerous). There’s no pressure to stay in for a certain amount of time and absolutely no prizes for being the last one out! (for many the health benefits of cold water dipping kick in after 3 minutes). The aim is to give you the knowledge and confidence to enjoy cold water dipping safely. Dip for a Great Cause 💙 Athena Success Ltd is hosting these sessions to raise funds for Duchy Collective CIC. Duchy Collective CIC is a not for profit helping people to improve physical and mental wellbeing, build community connections and reduce social isolation in rural and coastal communities across Cornwall. Rather than charging a standard event fee, we ask you to make a minimum donation of £10 to take part. All proceeds from these sessions will be donated to Duchy Collective CIC.
