Meetup on the first Tuesday of every month, where women share books on money and investing, swap ideas, and catch up. What it is Money Action’s Book Share is a relaxed meetup on the first Tuesday of every month for women who like to read and enjoy learning about money. It’s a chance to figure out how to grow and manage your own finances with others doing the same. Unlike a book club, nobody has to read the same book. Everyone brings their own, so you can ask about the lessons and key takeaways, and borrow one that’s available. You don’t need any financial knowledge, just come curious. Two ways to join • Lend and borrow. Bring physical books you’ve finished and are happy to lend, and borrow one to read. • Just share. Bring the book you’re reading right now, in any format, and tell us what you’re learning. No need to lend or borrow. How it works • Arrive and settle in. Quick hellos and introductions. • Tell us about a book. Each person takes a few minutes to talk about a book she’s read or is reading: what it’s about, one idea or lesson that stuck with her, how she's acting on it, and who it might suit. • Browse and chat. Books for lending go on the table. Pick them up, flip through, and ask the owners about any that catch your eye. • Borrow (optional). Put a post-it with your name on the book you’d like most. If you’re the only one, it’s yours. If more than one person wants it we’ll do a lucky draw, and anyone who misses out can pick again from the remaining books or add their name to the waiting list. If you didn’t bring a book to lend but would still like to borrow one, you’ll choose once the lenders have picked. What to bring • To lend: at least one physical book on money or investing that taught you something. They can be new or well-loved, as long as they’re in readable condition. The more books on the table, the more choice everyone has. • To share: the book you’re reading now, in any format (physical, e-book, audiobook). Housekeeping rules • Books should be about money or investing. Books that can help someone earn more are welcome too, e.g. salary negotiation, career progression, entrepreneurship, etc. • Borrow one. You can only hold one borrowed book at any time. • Your books stay yours. Any of your books that aren’t borrowed go home with you at the end. We keep a simple list of who owns each borrowed book and who has it now. • Read at your own pace. Bring your borrowed book back to a future session to return it or swap it for another. • Take good care of your borrowed book. Do not write on or fold the pages. If a book you borrowed gets lost or damaged, please replace it or agree a fair alternative with the owner. We will only step in if an agreement can’t be reached. • Want your books back? Let us know when you’d like your books back, and we’ll connect you with whoever has them. • Want to leave the group? HK is a transient place and life happens. If you no longer want to be part of the group, let us know and we’ll arrange to return your books and collect the book you’ve borrowed.
