EARWICKER, Book’d @ Prim’s

i had to consult the machines… EARWICKER SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH 7PM START • Mick O'Shea • Billy Kemp • w/ guest Irene Murphy i had to consult the machines.... EARWICKER is a collaborative audiovisual project between Billy Kemp (electronic sounds and visuals) and Mick O’Shea (strings and samples), rooted in live improvisation. Sound and image unfold in real time through interaction between human gesture and machine systems, with visuals shifting between fixed, generative, and reactive modes. Previous encounters have brought Samuel Tschudin, Kevin Sanderson, Solamh Kelly, and James Fortune into the fold. This time, Irene Murphy joins the proceedings, with the possibility of bowed cuttlefish, a multitude of different waters, broken cello, or whatever else finds its way into her hands. An unstable meeting of materials, machines, images and impulses, where things are as likely to unravel as they are to come together. MICK O’SHEA Mick lives and works in Cork city and is a member and director of the Cork Artists collective and The Guestnouse and has been instrumental in establishing a vibrant and growing sound art scene in Cork city. His work springs from his fundamental experience in drawing which influences his approach to sound, sculpture, and food. BILLY KEMP Billy Kemp is an artist whose practice moves between film, sound, installation, and performance. His work explores analogicity, digitality, perception, and mediation. He collaborates widely across disciplines, particularly within experimental music and contemporary dance practices. IRENE MURPHY Irene is a visual artist that uses sculpture, performance, found objects, drawing, potograpny, sound, and food in her work to create transient process-based installations performances and residential exhibitions. She is an enthusiastic collaborator and improviser and is a founder member of the Cork Artists Collective and founder member and curator of The Guesthouse.
