The Art of Public Speaking (club meeting)

The Hague University Toastmasters is a public speaking club open to anyone that is interested in public speaking. 🎤 Visit The Hague University Toastmasters — Interested in becoming a more confident speaker, practicing impromptu speaking, or simply discovering what Toastmasters is all about? Join us for an engaging and welcoming evening at The Hague University Toastmasters (HUT)! We meet every Wednesday at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), and guests are welcome to visit and participate free of charge. ⚠️ Advance registration is required for external guests so that we can include you on the guest list submitted to THUAS security before the meeting. Please complete eventbrite registeration with first and last name else also fill in this form to fully register your visit. We’ll send you a confirmation with meeting information, including the reserved room and other practical details. 📝 https://forms.gle/4F9wBgDHbhDhwbbP8 🏫 THUAS Evening Access THUAS carries out access checks at its main campus every day from 18:00 onwards to maintain a safe environment during evening hours. 🎓 THUAS students and employees Please bring a valid ID together with your THUAS student card or employee pass. 👋 External HUT guests HUT is required to submit a guest list to THUAS before each meeting so that security can verify registered visitors upon entry. Please: * register for the meeting in advance; * make sure the name you provide matches your identification; and * bring a valid ID with you when visiting. * external visitors under 18 years require supervision or guardian present If you would like to bring a friend, they’re very welcome too! Please add them to the registration so that we can also include them on the guest list. ✨ What to Expect 🤝 18:45 – Meet & Greet Come a little early to meet our members and fellow guests and get to know our international community before the meeting begins. 🎤 19:00 – Meeting Begins Take your seat and experience Toastmasters through learning by doing. Our meetings normally finish between 20:00 and 20:30. 🎙️ Prepared Speeches Members take the stage with engaging 5–7 minute speeches on a wide variety of subjects. Experience different speaking styles and discover how structure, storytelling, and delivery can turn an idea into a memorable presentation. ⚡ Table Topics – Impromptu Speaking No preparation. A surprise topic. Just 1–2 minutes to speak! Table Topics is our signature impromptu speaking exercise, where members and guests can practice thinking on their feet. Participation is voluntary, so you’re equally welcome to take on the challenge or simply enjoy the session. 💬 Evaluations & Feedback At Toastmasters, every speech is an opportunity to learn. Speakers receive constructive feedback highlighting what worked well and what they can develop further.
