Workshop: grow your own mushroom with Rotterzwam

Home-grown oyster mushrooms on your Christmas menu this year? During this workshop, Rotterzwam will teach you how to grow your own mushrooms During Changez, Rotterzwam returns to the place where it all started thirteen years ago: the former Tropicana swimming pool. As one of the first circular entrepreneurs in the building, they demonstrated how mushrooms can be grown on organic residual materials such as coffee grounds, brewery grains and wood waste. Rotterzwam believes that sharing knowledge through an open network is the way to build a better, circular future - and they are happy to share their knowledge with you! During this workshop, this circular entrepreneur will show you which raw materials are suitable for creating your own growing substrate and how to grow the tastiest mushrooms using your own coffee grounds at home. At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your own mushroom grow bag, so you can harvest your very own mushrooms soon. What should you bring? • A pen and paper for taking notes • A spacious bag to carry your grow bag Workshop details: • Duration: 1 hour, from 15:00 - 16:00 • The workshop takes place in the BlueCity Lab, in the basement of the former wave pool. About Rotterzwam Since 2013, Rotterzwam’s mission has been to transform the food system into a circular one. In the heart of Rotterdam, they grow mushrooms on urban residual streams, which are then processed into high-quality mushroom products. In this way, they show that a sustainable, local food network is closer than ever. Changez This workshop is part of the Changez programme. The day after Black Friday, BlueCity transforms the former Tropicana swimming pool into a circular department store featuring a clothing swap, a market with sustainable gifts, a textile repair café and a knitting café. Together, we’re taking a stand against fast fashion and our throwaway society!
