Nature as Archive: An Artist's Field Workshop

Experience nature through the eyes of an artist and create your own masterpiece after a walk on the Towpath and visit to Boston Gallery! How does nature inspire art? Join artist Anika Luna Wild for a guided walk along the Towpath exploring texture, pattern, memory, and the quiet details that often go unnoticed in the landscape. Inspired by the Wild Order: Studies in Natural Form exhibit at the Boston Gallery, participants will engage with the natural world through close observation and creative exploration. Following the walk, participants will use a thoughtfully curated selection of art materials to create work inspired by their experience. Materials may include drawing media, collage elements, botanical materials, and other mixed-media supplies that encourage experimentation and personal expression. No artistic experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to look closely. Note: To help protect Cuyahoga Valley National Park, all natural features and materials within the park will remain undisturbed. Artwork will be created using observations, textures, and artist-provided materials rather than collecting items from the landscape. Timeline: 11:00 a.m. - Introduction at the Boston Gallery 11:30 a.m. - Guided walk and art session begin along the Towpath and finish at the Boston Gallery 1:00 p.m. - Event ends Location: Session will start at the Boston Gallery, 1565 Boston Mills Rd, Peninsula, OH. Parking available at Boston Trailhead, 1508 Boston Mills Road. Head left towards the Boston Store, and cross at crosswalk. About Anika Luna Wild: With over 20 years of experience as an artist, herbalist and yoga teacher, Anika is passionate about sharing her knowledge and resources with her community. Through her landscaping company Wild Woman Designs, Anika and her partner create food forests and edible landscapes focused on plants native to Northeast Ohio. At her studio in Summit Art Space, Anika fuses art, nature and well-being through artwork that expresses her connection to the earth and workshops that inspire creativity and self care. From growing and harvesting to foraging and preserving as the owner of Wild Soil Farm, Anika spends much of her life focused on the beautiful gifts that come from Mother Earth.
