Lisa from Blue Tiger Mahj Club will be on hand to teach you all the beginner basics: the tiles, the player card, how to deal, finding your best hand, and so much more! What began as a social outlet quickly became a meaningful cultural experience. Immersed in a community deeply influenced by Chinese culture, I discovered that mahjong was far more than a pastime—it was a bridge to connection, history, and belonging. After returning to the US, I learned American mahjong with my mom and soon began teaching family and friends. As the game grew in popularity, I combined my passion for mahjong with my love for teaching, formally launching my business in 2024 to grow the mahjong community in the western Chicago suburbs. I have currently taught 3,500+ players and counting! As a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in teaching, I draw on my background as a teacher to make mahjong approachable and engaging. I carefully break down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step lessons that help students gain confidence and understanding. I believe anyone can learn and love this game!
