Stewardship Session: Marine Meadows Workshop, Hampton Bays

Help us restore eelgrass meadows at Tiana Bayside Facility in Hampton Bays at this educational eelgrass weaving workshop! Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program's Back to the Bays Initiative will be hosting a Marine Meadows Workshop on 10/24/26 at Tiana Bayside Facility in Hampton Bays, as part of our work to help enhance and restore the waters of the South Shore Estuary Reserve. Help CCE staff weave live eelgrass shoots into biodegradable burlap planting discs, which will later be planted by our Habitat Team's divers. Eelgrass meadows provide essential habitat for many species of finfish and shellfish during part or all stages of life. They also prevent erosion, buffer storms, and sequester carbon, helping to mitigate climate change.
