Full description from organizerShow less
The jump from patrol to investigations is one of the hardest transitions in law enforcement. Most officers make it without formal preparation, spending the first six months to a year figuring things out on the fly. That's true whether you're joining a large investigations division or you're the only investigator your agency has. Cases get mishandled, probable cause gets thin, and warrants don't hold up. It doesn't have to go that way. INVESTIGATIONS! For LEOs and New Investigators is a full-day course built specifically for patrol officers transitioning into investigative roles and new investigators who want a systematic, confidence-building foundation, no matter the size of your agency or how wide your caseload runs. Using a practical 6-step investigative framework, this course covers everything from case organization and caseload management to search warrants, arrest warrants, victim and suspect interviews, and courtroom-ready case reports. Property crimes, crimes against persons, and financial crimes are all covered with specific attention to elements, statutes, and the investigative approach that gets cases closed by arrest with successful prosecution, whether you're working one case type or juggling all of them at once. Taught by a veteran law enforcement officer and Certified Financial Crimes Investigator with hands-on experience across patrol, general investigations, and complex fraud cases, this course delivers real skills from day one. Training Force USA is proud to partner with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, which is hosting this class and supporting regional law enforcement training excellence. What You Will Learn By the end of this course, participants will be able to: • Transition confidently from patrol into the investigative role using a structured 6-step approach • Build and manage a caseload with organization and prioritization, even without a dedicated investigations unit • Apply investigative tools effectively across a wide range of crime types • Conduct proper victim and suspect interviews that support prosecution • Establish and articulate probable cause clearly and defensibly • Investigate property crimes including burglary, theft, pawn cases, and felony trespass • Investigate crimes against persons including aggravated battery, domestic felonies, stalking, and aggravated assault • Investigate financial crimes including fraud, credit card fraud, fraudulent returns, forgery, and check fraud • Write and issue subpoenas correctly • Write professional, prosecution-ready case reports • Draft and execute search warrants and arrest warrants • Build strong cases from the ground up with techniques that hold up under scrutiny Your Instructor Master Detective Phillip Klimpel – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Tampa, FL Master Detective Phil Klimpel has been employed with HCSO since 2010 as a sworn law enforcement officer.
