Floracliff Field Day: Birds & Beyond

Join us for a day of outdoor activities celebrating birds. Join us during fall migration for the first Floracliff Field Day! Spend the day exploring nature through outdoor sessions on finding and identifying birds, drawing birds, and discovering the connections between birds, plants, and insects. The event will also include an exhibit of nature-based art by regional artists at the Trail’s End Lodge as well as monarch tagging demonstrations. We’re excited to welcome our friends and partners from the Lexington Bird Cult , Red Oaks Forest School, and NABA-Central Kentucky who will be leading some of the sessions. Floracliff Field Day is a family-friendly event recommended for ages 8 and up. Loaner binoculars will be available to participants. Morning Bird Walk Leaders: - Tina Brouwer, Red Oaks Forest School - Lexington Bird Cult (to Elk Lick Falls) - Dan Patrick Afternoon sessions: - Butterfly and Bug Walk with Beverly James & Karen Michul (NABA-Central Kentucky) - How to Draw a Bird with Steve Bennett and Laura Mentor - Native Plant Relationships: From Birds to Butterflies with Isabel Cochran Bring: lunch, snacks, water, insect repellent, sun protection Optional: binoculars, hiking poles, camera Schedule: • 8:30 - 9:00 gate opens; check-in • 9:00 - 11:00 AM: Morning bird walks • 11:00-12:00 lunch break (lunch not provided); activities at the Trail's End Lodge • 12:00 – 2:00 PM: Afternoon sessions Meeting Location: Floracliff Nature Center, 8000 Elk Lick Falls Rd, Lexington, KY 40515
