Respectfully Working with Plant Kin: Smoke Bundles & Blends

Make your own smoke bundles and blends to take home! Join Courtney Rae at Mother Natives on November 22, from 10 AM – 12:30 PM, for a hands-on workshop centered on building relationships with plants and learning to work with smoke medicine in an honorable and reciprocal way. Together, we’ll learn about a selection of plants, how to work with them as smoke medicine, and how to thoughtfully prepare plant material to create your own smoke bundles and blends. Each participant will leave with the bundles and blends they create during the workshop, along with a deeper understanding of how we can relate to plant kin through principles of Native Science and Indigenous Philosophy. In this workshop, you’ll learn to: Prepare plant material to create smoke bundles and blends. Build relationships with plants and work with smoke medicine in ways that support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Apply principles of Native Science and Indigenous Philosophy to our relationships with plants. Plants are intelligent beings who have medicine to share. As humans, we have a responsibility to approach these relationships with care, respect, and reciprocity. Come spend the morning learning with plant kin, working with your hands, and creating your own smoke bundles and blends. About the instructor: Courtney Rae Gonzales was born and raised in California, as are her parents. She is the creator of Moonlight Floreciendo: A Path Illuminated, an online and in-person space for cultivating health, spiritual and intuitive gifts, community, and beauty. Courtney worked in food systems and community development in the Bay Area for more than 15 years, and moved to Sacramento in April of this year. Her work focuses on folk plant medicine, astrology, dreamwork, ancestral veneration, and being in service to Mama Earth as a land caregiver. A key message she shares through her offerings is that our bodies have an innate wisdom to guide us through life, which is connected to the wisdom of ancestors, dreams, mother earth, and the cosmos. Her formal studies include being a student of Ancestral Apothecary, Medicine Woman Marilu Shinn, the Inca Medicine School, Austin Coppock, Dra. Rocio Rosales Meza, and studying public health and public affairs.
