“What’s That Smell?" An Olfactory Game of Nose Training (in person)

IAO's Lucy Parker leads a low-stakes olfactory game that trains your nose with maximum fun. Let's smell together! Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? Let’s find out! “What’s that Smell?” is a game night that puts your nose to the test. Participants are presented with 10 aromatic materials, all anonymous, to sniff, reflect, and possibly identify. After recording impressions and best guesses, the group will collectively share olfactory impressions, after which we will unveil the aromatic materials’ identities and characters. Join us for this engaging and educational encounter: Meet new, strange (to you!) molecules with fellow smell-hounds, while you develop your skills of olfactory recall. There will be prizes! Topics covered: + An introduction to nose training for scent enthusiasts and budding perfumers + Encounter unknown aromatic materials in a fun communal setting + Add to your olfactory recall and knowledge Take-Aways: + Foundational education in olfactory recall and material evaluation + A new enthusiasm for the building blocks of perfumery + One of the most fun experiences of your life Materials Materials are included in the sign-up cost, and provided by the IAO during class. Attendance and Refund Policy This is an in person class that will take place at the Institute for Art and Olfaction. -Cancellation with refund made 1 week or more (7 days) before the scheduled session will be honored unless materials or formulas have been shared in advance. – Refunds requested 1 week or less before the class starts, on the day of the classor after the class has happened will not be granted.
