Sacred Rhythms: A Celebration of Unity

Presented by Diversity Band & Abiding Love Lutheran Church Sponsored by the City of Austin Join the Diversity Group and the Abiding Love Lutheran Church for an evening of music, dancing, food, and fun. This event is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: that music can help us cross boundaries, learn from one another, and experience community in a deeper way. Diversity Band, an initiative of Austin Sister Cities International, brings people from different cultures and backgrounds together through music, drumming, workshops, and shared creative experiences. Sacred Rhythms will expand and deepen that spirit of connection and collaboration. In the weeks leading up to the event, members of Abiding Love will practice drumming and drum-based movement with Diversity Band, while Diversity Band members will rehearse and sing along with Mixed Blessings, Abiding Love’s contemporary and folk music ensemble. This collaboration will foster a spirit of learning across cultures and faith traditions — creating space for curiosity, understanding, and genuine human connection. At Diversity Band, we often say, “Coming together, Drumming together.” Sacred Rhythms takes that idea even further: coming together, drumming together, singing together, learning together, and celebrating together. We believe this gathering represents something especially meaningful for Austin — a city shaped by music, creativity, cultural diversity, and a strong sense of community. Schedule: • 6:00-6:15 p.m. - Opening remarks • 6:15-~7:00 p.m. - The Diversity Band and Mixed Blessings concert • 7:00-7:30 p.m. - Fellowship time About the Diversity Band: The Diversity Band is a local drumming and performance team organized by the Austin-Pune Sister City Committee.
