Hands Only CPR/AED & Choking Relief - 90 minute course Instructor: Santa Clara County Fire Department Staff Most cardiac arrests happen at home or work—the life you save will likely be someone you love. If an AED is used within the first 5 minutes, survival rates jump to 90%. Learn the vital skills to step up in those precious moments before first responders arrive. What You’ll Learn • Chest Compressions: High-quality techniques for adults, children, and infants. • AED Use: How to confidently operate an automated external defibrillator. • Choking Relief: How to clear airways for adults, children, and infants. Note: This course focuses strictly on compressions and AED use. Rescue breathing is not taught. Quick Facts & Requirements • Takeaways: Every participant receives a free pocket mask and travel first aid kit. • No Certification: This is an informational workshop. It does not provide a 2-year certification (Not Heartsaver or BLS). • Age Limit: Open to participants 13 years and older. • Minors: Students under 18 require a signed parent/guardian liability waiver prior to class.
