Home for Horror: Night of the Living Dead (1968) · NR

George A. Romero’s debut birthed the modern zombie. Strangers barricade a farmhouse against the dead in this American horror classic. George A. Romero’s independent debut is the single most influential horror film of the modern era — inventing the modern zombie, reshaping the horror genre, and doing it all on a shoestring in rural Pennsylvania. A small group of strangers barricade themselves in an isolated farmhouse as the recently dead rise and attack the living. Duane Jones’s lead performance was groundbreaking for its time and remains extraordinary today. A foundational text of American horror. Bonus! As a special added bonus, before select films, we’ll be screening the new 30th Anniversary 4K restoration of SEASON’S GREETINGS (1996), the creepy cartoon short from Michael Doherty, director of TRICK R’ TREAT (2007), featuring the first appearance of that film’s “Sam” character. Many thanks to Michael and Minor Demons, Inc for allowing us this opportunity to provide you with this bite-sized fright.
