Beyond Awareness: Safety in Action

A self defense and personal safety experience in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month Awareness is important. But what happens after we recognize the signs? Beyond Awareness: Safety in Action is an intimate self defense and personal safety experience hosted by ITAVFoundation in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We often talk about recognizing unsafe situations, being aware of our surroundings, and knowing when something is wrong. This experience takes the conversation further by creating an opportunity to learn, prepare, practice, and put safety into action. Led by safety instructor Tasha Plaza, CEO and Owner of Prime Legacy Security Inc., participants will be introduced to practical physical self defense skills while engaging in meaningful conversations around personal safety, awareness, preparation, and protection. This is more than a self defense class. It is a curated safe space experience designed to bring together practical instruction, conversation, tangible resources, and community. What to Expect During this three hour experience, participants will take part in hands on self defense instruction, personal safety conversations, and practical exercises designed to build greater awareness and confidence in responding to potentially unsafe situations. Participants will also have access to community resources, refreshments, and a take home care package. No previous self defense experience is required, and all fitness levels are welcome. This experience is intentionally limited to 25 individuals to allow for hands on instruction, interaction, questions, and a more personal learning environment. Meet Your Instructor Tasha Plaza is an instructor in various safety disciplines who has developed a modern and sophisticated approach to personal security that considers the mind, body, and overall well being. She is an advocate for personal protection and the promotion of nonviolence through public speaking, safety education, classes, and security consulting through Prime Legacy Security Inc. Her approach combines practical safety education with real world preparation, giving participants tools they can understand, practice, and apply.
