Get the lowdown on spotting and handling tricky (but common) biologic implant issues before they become unsavable. Dental hygienists and dentists are central to protecting the long-term health of dental implants. This clinically focused program examines the biologic complications that can threaten implant success, from peri-implant mucositis to peri-implantitis. Participants will learn to recognize early clinical and radiographic warning signs; distinguish inflammatory disease from common restorative, hygiene-access, and patient-risk challenges; and apply a practical, team-based approach to risk assessment, maintenance, documentation, and timely referral or intervention. Emphasis will be placed on the hygienist’s essential role in prevention and surveillance, alongside collaborative decision-making with the dentist to preserve implant health and patient confidence.
