Join us for a compelling talk on the history of Australian Army Nursing, presented by Dr Alan O'Connor, veteran and researcher. From the Boer War through to the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, and modern peacekeeping deployments, Australian Army nurses have served with courage on the front lines and behind them. Dr O'Connor draws on personnel files, personal accounts, and his own research to trace their evolving roles, the hardships they faced as both non-combatants and frontline workers, and the sacrifices that shaped their legacy. The talk will cover: • A brief early history of Army nursing • The Boer War • World War I • World War II • Korea • Vietnam • Iraq and Afghanistan • Peacekeeping missions • Tributes and memorials to Australia's Army nurses
