Visual Art — Creative Studio Creative Studio is a regular monthly offering by Nic Anderson Earth, held at SATORI EARTH on the second Saturday of every month, from 10am–1pm. These are small, intimate live-work studio sessions, where the work currently being explored within Nic Anderson’s own visual art practice becomes available to others in a workshop setting. Each month carries a different theme and creative focus — exploring not only subject and form, but different techniques, materials and artistic modalities. Sessions may move between drawing, painting, mixed media, mark-making, studies from nature, composition, colour and more experimental approaches, depending upon what is alive within Nic’s studio practice at the time. So no two Creative Studio sessions will be quite the same. October Creative Studio — FUNGI For October, the studio turns towards fungi and mushrooms. There is something inherently other-worldly about fungi. Their extraordinary forms seem to sit somewhere between the botanical, sculptural and imagined — grounded completely in the natural world, yet capable of opening pathways into storytelling, symbolism and imagination. Participants will explore fungi through observation, drawing, mapping form and painting, looking closely at shape, structure, texture, colour and the different dimensions through which a natural form can be interpreted. Nic will work alongside participants, demonstrating aspects of her own process and sharing techniques as the work develops. The intention is not for everyone to produce the same image. Participants are encouraged to observe carefully, learn technique, experiment — and then allow their own creative language to emerge. More than technique At the heart of my work through Nic Anderson Earth is the understanding that creativity is one of the ways we come back into relationship with our own Soul Blueprint. For me, art has never been simply about acquiring technique or producing something aesthetically pleasing. It is a way of seeing. A way of listening. And often, a way of allowing something within us to become visible that we may not yet have words for. So while I will teach and demonstrate technique, these sessions are also intentionally held as spaces for self-connection and authentic creative expression. There is no requirement to create as I create. In fact, quite the opposite. My role is to offer enough structure, technique and guidance for you to explore confidently — while leaving enough space for your own instincts, imagination and way of seeing to enter the work. At its heart, Creative Studio is about learning to trust that. Who is it for? Creative Studio is open to adults and young people aged 9+. Younger participants need to be comfortable working independently within an adult-level workshop environment, able to follow instruction and sustain their attention across a three-hour creative session. No previous art experience is required. Both beginners and those with existing art experience are welcome. Monthly Creative Studio Second Saturday of every month 10am–1pm SATORI EARTH Palmwoods | Sunshine Coast Each month is a stand-alone session. There is no requirement to have attended a previous Creative Studio. Participants are welcome to come occasionally, follow particular themes that interest them, or make Creative Studio part of their regular creative practice. To preserve the intimacy of the studio and allow for individual guidance, each session is currently limited to 8 participants. Workshop fee: $65 per person Personal art materials: BYO — materials list supplied prior to session Shared studio materials: Provided Bookings essential: Maximum 8 participants What to bring Because the theme, techniques and materials explored will change from month to month, the materials required will vary with each session. Participants are encouraged to gradually build their own collection of quality art materials — learning to use, care for and become familiar with their own tools is part of developing an independent creative practice. This also means the workshop fee does not incorporate a standard materials package that may not be relevant from one month to the next. Please bring your own: • Basic sketchpad or visual diary • Watercolour paper pad • Quality drawing pencils • Watercolour pencil set • Fine black drawing pens • Kneadable eraser • Water bottle Need supplies? Basic sketchpads and watercolour pencil sets will be available to purchase from the studio if required. Provided: Artist-quality watercolour paper for the final work, acrylic inks for shared experimentation, and communal studio materials and equipment. If you are unable to attend, bookings are non-refundable but may be transferred as a credit to a future Creative Studio session, provided at least 48 hours’ notice is given.
