2026 WGM School Debates Day

The USU is excited to welcome students to the University of Sydney campus for a fun day of competition at the Schools Debate Day! This event celebrates women and gender minorities (WGM) in debating, while remaining open to students of all genders. The competition will be divided into two age divisions: • Years 7–8 • Years 9–12 Held on: Friday 18 September Registrations close: Monday 14 September The day will be divided into three sessions of debates. All schools should arrive at 8:40am in preparation for the start of the first session at 9:00am. We understand the importance of running Schools Debate Day to time, particularly given the travel requirements of many schools attending. A $50 refundable registration deposit is required for each team to confirm their place and help us manage attendance. The deposit will be fully refunded after the event, provided the registered team attends. Refund requests can only be made before registrations close on 14 September. Once registrations have closed, if a registered team does not attend the event, the $50 deposit will be forfeited. Further information will be provided to registered teams.
