Surgical Podiatry in Practice & Injection Therapy: Practical CPD Evening

Designed for podiatrists, the evening will focus on practical skills and clinical decision-making that can be directly pit into practice. Join us at Shellharbour Podiatry – Shellharbour City for a practical evening of podiatric CPD combining an optional Injection Therapy Pre-Course with an interactive discussion on Surgical Podiatry, in-room procedures, surgical decision-making and patient management. Designed for podiatrists, the evening will focus on practical skills and clinical decision-making that can be taken directly back into practice. Optional Pre-Course: Injection Therapy Techniques 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm A practical workshop covering commonly used foot and ankle injection techniques. The session will focus on 3–4 key injection techniques, including: • Sinus tarsi injections • Intermetatarsal neuroma and bursal injections • Plantar plate injections • 1st MTPJ injections • Other commonly useful foot and ankle injection approaches • Relevant anatomy, positioning and needle placement • Practical considerations around patient selection and injection technique • Opportunity for demonstration and hands-on practice using injection models • Brief discussion of other injection approaches used within podiatric practice The emphasis will be on practical technique and confidence, rather than an extensive theoretical lecture. Please note: This session is intended as professional education and skills development. Clinicians remain responsible for ensuring that any procedures they perform are within their individual scope of practice, training and professional requirements. Main CPD Session: Surgical Podiatry in Practice 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm Dr Abdel Kak will lead an interactive, case-based discussion exploring where surgical podiatry fits within the broader management of foot and ankle conditions. Topics will include: • Introduction to Abdel and the surgical services he provides • Common in-room procedures that may compliment community podiatry practice • When conservative management remains appropriate and when surgical assessment may be considered • Bunions and forefoot deformity • Morton’s neuroma and intermetatarsal pathology • Surgical treatment options and clinical decision-making • What podiatrists should know about post-operative expectations and recovery • Managing patient expectations before and after surgery • Case-based discussion of common presentations • Questions, clinical discussion and shared experiences The aim is not simply to discuss surgical procedures, but to give podiatrists a better understanding of the patient journey from conservative management through surgical assessment, intervention and post-operative care.
