Full description from organizer

Learn how to safely and confidently teach yoga using a chair as a supportive tool. Chair Yoga Teacher Training is designed for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, healthcare and community workers, fitness instructors, and anyone interested in bringing the benefits of yoga to people who may have difficulty participating in traditional floor-based or standing yoga classes. This training explores how a chair can provide stability, support, and accessibility while still allowing participants to experience the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga. What You Will Learn Participants will learn how to: • Teach safe and accessible chair yoga classes • Adapt traditional yoga postures for seated and chair-supported practice • Use the chair to improve balance, stability, mobility, and confidence • Offer modifications for different physical abilities and levels of mobility • Incorporate gentle movement, stretching, breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation • Create inclusive classes that accommodate a variety of needs • Develop and sequence a chair yoga class • Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and modifications • Recognize appropriate boundaries and considerations when working with participants with physical limitations • Create a supportive, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment Training Includes Chair Yoga Foundations Understanding the principles and benefits of chair-based yoga and how it differs from traditional yoga practice. Asana & Adaptations Exploring seated and chair-supported versions of common yoga postures, including options for different abilities and comfort levels. Pranayama & Breath Awareness Learning accessible breathing practices that can support relaxation, awareness, and stress management. Mindfulness & Relaxation Incorporating meditation, guided relaxation, and mindfulness practices into chair yoga sessions. Class Sequencing & Teaching Skills Learning how to structure and teach a complete chair yoga class, from opening and centering through movement and relaxation. Safety & Inclusive Teaching Understanding how to create an environment that prioritizes participant comfort, choice, safety, and accessibility. Who Is This Training For? This training is suitable for: • Yoga teachers and instructors • Wellness and mindfulness professionals • Healthcare and community professionals • Fitness instructors • Seniors’ program facilitators • Recreation and community program leaders • Caregivers and support workers • Individuals interested in accessible yoga No previous experience teaching chair yoga is required. Why Chair Yoga? Yoga does not have to mean getting down on a yoga mat. A chair can make yoga more accessible for older adults, people with limited mobility, individuals recovering from injury, people who experience balance challenges, and anyone who simply feels more comfortable practicing with additional support. Chair yoga can provide an opportunity to move, breathe, relax, and reconnect with the body in a way that feels safe and manageable. Take Your Teaching to More People Chair Yoga Teacher Training gives you practical tools and teaching techniques to bring yoga beyond the traditional studio setting and into community centres, workplaces, seniors’ programs, healthcare settings, wellness programs, and other accessible environments. Come learn how a chair can become a powerful tool for creating an inclusive yoga practice.
