HHH: This Is My Story To Tell

Workshop: Using Hip Hop to Tell Our Stories & Support Healing Every person has a story. Some stories are spoken. Some are written. Some are carried silently through our bodies, our memories, our music and our relationships. This Is My Story To Tell is an interactive Hip Hop Healing workshop that invites Black youth to explore their lived experiences and express their stories through the elements and creative practices of Hip Hop. Drawing from Hip Hop culture as a tool for identity, connection, reflection and resistance, participants will explore how emceeing, writing, rhythm, movement, DJing, visual expression and storytelling can become pathways for processing experiences, celebrating identity and making meaning from our journeys. You don't have to be a rapper, writer, dancer or artist to participate. Through guided reflection, discussion and creative activities, participants will have an opportunity to ask: • What is my story? • What parts of my story have shaped who I am? • What stories have I inherited, and what stories am I choosing to rewrite? • What have I survived, learned, lost, loved and overcome? • How can I use my voice to tell my story on my own terms?
