Monday Morning 5Rhythms Emerging Waves

Join us on Monday mornings for an ongoing Emerging Waves 5Rhythms® class in Toronto, a space to begin the week in movement, presence, and community. These classes are led by 5Rhythms Teachers-in-Training Alejandro Zuluaga and Simona Irwin as part of their teaching path and apprenticeship within the 5Rhythms lineage. There is no dance experience needed and nothing to get right. Some mornings may feel expansive and energized, others quiet and inward. All of it belongs. Together we move, sweat, breathe, rest, and practice meeting ourselves and one another with curiosity and care. What is 5Rhythms® Practice? 5Rhythms® is a movement meditation practice, a way of meeting life as it is through the body. It offers a map, but not a choreography. There is nothing to get right, no way you should look, and no pace you need to keep. We move with what is here. Sensation, emotion, energy, thought, all of it is welcome into the dance. Through rhythm, repetition, and awareness, the body becomes a place where experience can move, shift, and reorganize. What has been held can begin to flow, what has been avoided can be met, and what feels fixed can soften. Over time, the practice becomes a way of living, a way of listening and responding to life with more presence, more honesty, and more capacity to stay in relationship with what is here. What are Emerging Waves? Emerging Waves is a space held by a 5Rhythms Teacher-in-Training. In these classes, you are invited to move through the 5Rhythms with simple guidance while leaving space for your own personal expression. Music becomes a teacher alongside the Teacher in Training, supporting your movement practice through the Waves map of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. Rooted in the teachings of Gabrielle Roth, 5Rhythms is practiced by tens of thousands of people worldwide. This practice welcomes every body, every culture, every age, and every level of experience. Supported: $15 + HST ($1.95) = $16.95 Sustainability: $20 + HST ($2.60) = $22.60 Supporter: $25 + HST ($3.25) = $28.25 Tiered pricing is available so that those of us with more can share, and those of us who could use some support can receive it. You are always welcome to rest, witness, or move in ways that support your body. If you have specific accessibility needs, please reach out. Health, Wellness and Community Agreements We ask any dancers experiencing cold, flu, or other contagious symptoms to practice community care and stay home. If you must cancel your attendance due to communicable illness, you will be offered a class credit, which can be applied toward a future Monday Emerging Waves class. If you are unable to attend for other reasons, please let us know so we may release your spot to another dancer.
