Full description from organizerShow less
The Sutherland Trust Autumn Event 2026 WATCHING FOR THE OTHER: A Cinematic exploration of how we imagine, construct and confront "the other." Join us for an in-person event exploring the relationship between film and psychoanalysis. Through Pixar’s For the Birds, David Lynch’s The Elephant Man and J. A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls, we will examine how we define others, the challenges of belonging and why we turn to others in moments of suffering. Discover how cinema brings psychoanalytic ideas beyond the consulting room, inviting us to reflect on our judgements, our relationships and what it means to encounter someone different from ourselves.
